From the establishment of the Thatcher Inn in 1890 to its reopening as Hopland
Inn in 2002, the Thatcher Inn has been renamed three times and has had
seven different owners within the last 112 years.

In 1890 a southern architect, hired by William Wallace Thatcher, built the Thatcher Inn.
The Inn had 44 rooms with no indoor plumbing. In 1923 the McMillan family
purchased the Inn and remained its owners till 1945. In 1933 the Thatcher
Inn was renamed the 'Pomo Inn'.

In 1945 the Lotti family from Mendocino County took over the management of
the Pomo Inn for the next 36 years. In 1981, Timm Allred, also a local from Mendocino County, purchased the Inn. He
spent over a million dollars restoring the exterior to its original
structure of 1890. The Inn re-opened in 1983 as the Thatcher Inn. By February
1986 the Thatcher Inn was closed.
In 1988, Ron Hooper a Santa Rosa businessman purchased the Inn, and provided
more money to restore the interior from 44 rooms to 22, each with its
own private bath. He improved the bar, library, and courtyard, and constructed a new building
that included an employee locker room, office, and storage.

In 1999 Don and Marlena Sacca, two chefs, purchased the Inn.
By November of 2001, a group of mostly local owners had purchased
the Thatcher Inn and renamed it the 'Hopland Inn.' They opened its doors
to the public on February 14, 2002.
